Every Morning

C.J. Knudsen

Every Morning

Open your eyes and slowly take in the light to awake

Take in the early crisp mornings

Listen to the world around you

Look at the light, how it bends

Feel the light inside of you and how it wakes you

First open the door to your heart and then the door to the outside

Capture

Capture

Put on your favorite music

Use all of your senses to smell, taste, hear, touch, and see

Enjoy your mind wanders and laughters from the past

Now, rule the world with kindness

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem for my sister-in-law that has a brain tumor. I'm trying to bring her inspiration. She's a fighter.
