I wonder what it’s like, to live, not just survive,
I wonder what it’s like, to truly thrive.
And I wonder what it’s like, to wake (no gasps or cries),
Oh, I wonder what it’s like to dream with a smile
Why can’t we live free from judging eyes?
Why can’t we just live life, no need for disguise?
Why must we feel this pain, from a world that divides?
A world where some must fight, while others just decide
Wish we were dancing in the sunrise, with our arms up high,
Feeling blessed and so divine, with no tears in our eyes.
Oh, together, I’m sure we all wonder...
What it’s like, to live a safe life,
Free from fear and free from strife.
What it’s like, to hold our heads high,
And step into the light, no shadows in our minds.
Why can’t we just be free, and let our spirits fly?
Why must we be judged by our DNA’s lack of ‘Y,’
While others are free to live without asking why?
Why can’t we just live life, with love in our eyes
Why can’t we walk into the night without a fear?
Why must some of us feel like we’re not even here?
Why must we be judged by our DNA’s lack of ‘Y,’
While others are free to live without asking why?
And above all I wonder what it’s like, to live in the light,
To finally feel safe and to be held tight, in a world where love never dies.

- Comment from author about the poem: I must admit, this is very free even for free verse as this was completely spontaneous😅 But this encapsulates the questions and confusions and the pain I(and many other people feel) to give voice to the "Whys" that have never been answered. I hope that you enjoy this, this is written for everyone who has been wronged or suffered any injustice no matter how small as our feelings MATTER. I am open to any feedback/ constructive criticism :)

A well written piece highlighting the injustices in society that are still a plenty today, everyone has the right to all mentioned but somehow the last line, i am not sure that has ever existed. Really enjoyed the read
