Natalie had a few things she didn’t like
She hated broccoli, cooking on her birthday, and rain at night,
But above all she hated confrontation.
When she was younger she had a pink bike,
And some bully at school stole her bike and started a fight,
She was horrified by the situation.
Now that she was 25 she was feeling unsure about herself,
She was ready to marry and take the next big step in life,
She sat by the telephone thinking about the recent event.
Her boyfriend Sunjay had asked her to marry him and share his wealth,
She looked around at her lonely flat filled with trouble and strife,
And decided to say yes and rise above her discontent.
They married during the Diwali festival,
Diwali symbolises the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma,
Light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
For the first few weeks things were very casual,
Sunjay had a temper and Natalie was much calmer,
She didn’t like to disagree and so she did a subservient dance.
That meant she was chained to the house and not allowed to go out,
Sunjay would give her small amounts of money and expect lavish meals,
Natalie spent hours very lonely in the big house with tiger statues out the front.
They often fought over money and Sunjay would argue with a shout,
“I am the Man in this house.I am the Boss. I turn all the wheels.
I am the Warrier who will provide for you from the hunt.”
“To show my courage I will slap you hard on the face,
It is to teach you a lesson that I am the Tiger and you are the Lamb on the rack,
That is why God has brought us both together.”
Natalie’s face was bleeding but she stood up to him with grace,
Sunjay left the house screaming that he expected dinner when he got back,
She decided in that moment to put an end to this stormy weather.
Normally he would storm out leaving Natalie crying in her pillow.
As time passed like a tree growing in the forest she decided to act,
It had to be carefully planned so there was no real harm done.
In the yard at the back of the house was a family of red back spiders in a Willow.
She gathered the little spiders into a jar and made a pact,
She would make him sick and escape before the rising of the Sun.
Natalie made Sunjay’s favourite Chicken Tikka Masalla meal,
And sprinkled some salt and spiders, and rat poison for taste,
She cleaned the house and put a scarf to hide the injury to her face.
Sunjay came home with a huge appetite ready to turn his wheel,
Natalie gave him his dinner and took out the waste,
Soon she heard Sunjay coughing and frothing all over the place.
He finally fell to the ground and lay there screaming to the sky,
Natalie slowly walked over and put her foot on his neck,
She shouted “don’t you ever touch me again you sad dog.” Waving a chicken wing.
Natalie called the ambulance and packed her bags and said goodbye.
She walked out of the house and started on her new trek,
She didn’t look back, she just smiled as the Sun was rising.

A story about choice power over self and others. very nicely written with careful word choice and great images to paint the story. In the end there is a moral and meaning to the story. Well done my friend
Thank you mi amigo.Always a joy to read your critique
Someone who thinks they have complete power having it turned on them, a very good and strong moral in this writing and i enjoyed the read ( rat poison for flavour).
Yes it always better than 11 herbs and spices. Thanks for commenting
You are very welcome
And the chicken wing, pawn of the lamb.. laced with spider 🕷 venom… people can be pushed to a point and all is fair in love and war…
Indeed chicken is always better with 11 herbs and spices. Thanks for taking the journey mi amigo
Ah, with gravy or with coleslaw or mash? The Colonel doesn’t really have coleslaw down under… though! 🍗🙏🏻🕊
