Mask Of Happiness

teardrop

People say I'm doing well

I thank them but never tell

How I really feel inside

That would only hurt my pride

I wear this mask of happiness

So no one sees my loneliness

Burning deep inside my heart

Daily tearing me apart

Depression rears its ugly head

With confussion which I dread

At living yet another day

Trying to chase my fears away

Yes, I wear this mask of happiness

So, no one sees my loneliness

Causing tears to sting my eyes

though no one ever sees me cry

Dissappointment is a part of me

Yet, with out it, where would I be?

Saddness, anguish along with sorrow

Will be with me still tomorrow

So, I wear this mask of happiness

So no one see my loneliness

Feelings no one ever sees

Belongs to no one else but me.

I like this a lot .. I hope these words are a product of your creative poetic mind and not autobiographical tho’ .. smiling depression is no laughing matter and so difficult to diagnose before all too often it is too late .. Neville πŸ˜ŽπŸ’›πŸ‘

Hey Neville, again, thank you for reading me. I wrote this one a couple of years ago. I went through a really dark period in my life and writing has always been my release. Most my poetry seems sad (at least that's what I have been told) but to me it is a release from within and then I ca breathe again.

Putting on a brave face. Wearing a mask to hide your sadness. So many people suffer from depression Teardrop. If you are one of them, hang in there. You convey your emotions very well in this poem. Good to see you.

Hi Cassie, thank you so much for the read. I wrote this one a couple of years ago. Writing has always been my release. Once I write my emotions out, I can breathe again and move on. Good to see you as well.

A very beautifully poem expressing the emotion and pain when suffering from depression, but also the lengths we go to to hide it way. A lot of people wear masks for different reasons, but when you have depression the mask is your protection. Very well written.
