Jock's journey

David Wakeling

Jock’s sixteen wheeler was loaded, with Merino fleece from Hay.
Destined for Yennora Woolstores ‘bout 500 clicks away.
It’s a  5 hour trip so he brought Blue just for company.
“Waste of time talkin’, it’s just like whittling on a rotten log”.
Jock always said he got more sense out of a blue cattle dog,
Then anybody he’d ever met that stood on all two legs.
No, its four legs good and two legs bad unless they can use pegs.
“Right Blue what’s it to be, my fine canine friend, Keats or Shakespeares?
Bluey gave a raucus howl, and put his paws over his ears.
Aww Blue, now is that any way to treat the flamin’ classics?
Now let me treat ya Blue to the gentle art of poetics.
Okay Keats its is…”Beauty is flamin’ truth, truth is flamin’ beauty,
That’s all ya flamin’ know on earth and all ya flamin’ need to flamin’ know.
That Johhnny Keats was on to something, I swear by my eye tooth,
They may be the same, Blue, but it’s Beauty that lives longer than Truth.

Feels right down home. Another great story with a philisophical moral. I do think beauty lasts longer than truth. A great read that was fun and mind provoking at the same time.
