SNIPPET

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

A snippet in
The local paper
Just says
Body found
Drugs again
Says the reader
Moves on to sport
No further sound.

Next week
This paper
Will wrap up
Fish and chips
Lost forever
Long forgotten
From memory
It slips.

Who was this person
Of young years ?
Once a baby
Someones child
Are we really
So callous ?
Another body
To the ground.

Such a great metaphor the paper with the notice used to wrap up a meal then to be discarded just as the memory of a life. Casual and calloused we go on with our lives what was once someone's treasure is now our trash. A powerful write

Nan used to tell us that a story as such used to go on for half a year or so, then later slips into town legend. Now it is so common that we have been desensitised. 🙏🏻🕊

We have become a throw away society and do not value anything anymore including people, and it is very sad it has become like this. The write makes it`s points very well, enjoyed the read.
