Moonlight Stories: 1. The Land of Sand

Li Yanmey

When the Sun and the Moon

Will cross the line

I’m waiting for you,

My divine.

Just say goodbye to your problems

And look at the light.

Your pain was countless,

Come over to my sight.

Don’t think you are alone

And give your hand.

From now you belong

To the Land of Sand.

It will takes all weakness away

And brings you calm.

You will be alive again,

Look, do you see the sign?

The fluttering cosmic moth

In the cold moonlight

Keeps the key to the door that is closed

Don’t give up.

And then I will love you forever

In this Land of Sand.

And we can be always together

In our new homeland.

That was a very enjoyable read

Although it at first seemed a romantic poem between lovers it soon turned to me into a deeper meaning of death as a lover where one is taken home to one's origin in a land of sand. Sorry if this was not the intent but it was just too strong a metaphor to ignore.

Wow, I like this interpretation! I think poetry (and all art as such) is open to different meanings. I am glad that you saw something yours in this poem.
