Ode to Valentineโ€™s That Never Were

Accidental Poet

The ones that got away

Seem to be the most memorable

The ones your heart holds dearest

The only loss endurable

Whatever the reason

The connection missed the chance

Two hearts lost in time

Never to have that first dance

The first kiss

That never came

Other loves

Just not the same

Oh, the Valentine’s

They would’ve been

The roses and poems read

Love so sweet when falling in

Many Valentines may come and go

But none so sweet as the first

The one who reached the hearts core

The only one to quench the hearts thirst

As the years pass

Memories will have to do

Subtle whispers of

I love you

A fine write AP. Of course, KP doesn't know St Val. I sent here a sympathy card for today 'in memory' of the days before I married her. heehee.

Maybe look from a different perspective that if you were together the poetry may never have been born. ๐ŸŒน Your love is pure my friend. ๐Ÿ’œ

Beautiful poetry for Sharon. How special she is. If only she knew how much she is loved AP. Have a wonderful day dear poet.

Oh she knew from the letter I left in her school locker in 8th grade before she left for Los Angeles. What she doesn't know is that my love for her has grown every day since September 6, 1967. But I did tell her in that letter that I'd always love her. Thanks Cassie. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

In September it will be 58 years and I knew at first sight of her she was the love of my life. Its not about owning the gold but having been part of something that not many people get the chance to be part of. Also when someone sets a benchmark so high that no one else can come close to, you know its something very special. I knew that on day one. Thanks N. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

I'm sure many of us have at least one Valentine that never really was... the one that got away! A poem that will jog a few memories! Nicely written, my friend!
