The two states of motion

Dara Ó Rinn

"If only I were a bird, I would see the world."

What is the freedom of skies but perpetual space—

for noise to travel unburdened and unsanctioned?

A ghastly existence of flight and impermanence,

to glisten and gloat amongst consciousnesses,

caught in daily routines of circles and spirals.

An expression of life I have yet to discover.

...

I am free to roam, and I shall stamp my own expression on this existence.

The world is full of wonder; I am free to travel and explore.

But to return home is sweet—

to the roots of family trees,

to the enduring circles and spirals of connection.

Here is where my heart is found,

the glistening green heart of the everlasting—

God’s green earth.

God’s green earth.

The sky is wonderful, but I believe the ground is even better. Plenty of time for the sky in the eternal life. I enjoyed reading your stanzas and your poetic voice.

Home to all of us and should be treated with more respect. A lovely home it is as well from sea to desert mountain to valley and arctic cold to heated salt flat.
