A Heavy Shadow

Kurt Philip Behm

The weight

of what I

haven’t done

far outweighs

my past

Those things

left vacant

on the shelf

of what I left

for last

Excuses

linger

as empty

choices

following behind

Reminding me

of what

I’m not

in content

— and in kind

Wow! We are judged in life for what we do. We may also be judged by ourselves for what we do not do. A lovely write again worded so concisely and well by you.

I get this. A heavy shadow indeed! Wonderfully expressed, Kurt!

The Measure of a man, what he does, but also what he did not.
