“Truth
is often attended
by a bodyguard
of lies”
A consequence
so precious
its veracity
must hide
Deep within
the smoke
on a battlefield
most dire
Victory burns
within each man
intrepid
— to inspire

I love how this one opens the first stanza speaks the truth with a bit of bravado and notes that truth is not that pure
As Churchill discovered with D-Day ... The truth of the landing (Normandy instead of Calais) had
to be hidden to be successful.
These are powerful words in tribute to a day that must not be forgotten (though I feel it almost has been). Hard words, but true. Well done, my friend! 🌹👏
Thanks Tristan. My Father-In-Law was there.
Oh wow. Thank you for sharing. That adds even more meaning to an already powerfully meaningful poem. You are welcome, Kurt.
Thanks again.
