I stay lucid
alert
waiting
just beyond
the shadows
and the covers
at the foot of your bed
I sleep
in your lounge slippers
I liquify
in your shampoo
in your shopping bag
among the rice
and bananas
ready to jump out
and ravage you
at a moments notice
I leap
biting your ankles
ripping your skirt
to shreds
and swallowing you whole
I take your watch, your face, your voice
all of your life
I become you
and you become me
eater of worlds
living for today
living for tomorrow
tonight
all to hell’s will
for just another
sunrise.
