Almost

Junes

You're close enough to touch, yet miles away,
A name on my lips, but nothing to say.
Shadows of glances, a ghost in my mind,
A stranger too near, yet impossible to find.

Every heartbeat’s a song I can't let out,
Every step toward you just turns me around.
You're right in the room, but lost in the haze,
A puzzle I crave, but can never embrace.

Like a fever that burns but never breaks,
Like a whisper the wind refuses to take.
You don’t even know the way that I see,
The space between us is swallowing me.

So I stand in the silence, watching you fade,
A name I once knew, a dream I once made.
Maybe some things are meant to remain,
Like echoes of love without a name.

The combination of rhyme, rhythm, word choice and timing in the build made this an enjoyable read deserving a fave
