Kindergarten

faie

All so very cute young and small,

with such innocent looks of white ceramic dolls.

Eagerness cradles their shy and uncertain eyes,

explaining numbers, alphabets, symbols, and signs,

all impressed in such tender minds.

Gleaming grins of accomplishments advertised,

no competition, no division, all working together,

          unconditional acceptance for one another.

Masks of white paste smeared by touch,

          mothers thankful for watercolors.

Intriguing artwork and drawings cover the walls,

creativity, imaginations, run wild throughout the halls.

Storytelling and songs of rhyme,

brings such sweet smiles filled with laughter and joy,

excited and fidgeting, sitting legs crisscrossed each girl and boy.

Noticing that the teacher's patience and tolerance come naturally.

Assisting with the days' learning and art activities, all oh' so fun,

I cannot help but wonder what will cross their way,

as they step into this classroom everyday.

What a wonderful portrayal of young children. Masterfully painted this picture of little children in a creative school setting. Full of color, motion and noise I can see it well. A metaphor as well for creativity in us all in our child mind

Thank you. Composing the poem came easily after I spent the day watching my son in his class as well as, I saw myself missing my youth and innocence.
