Heads Or Tails

TommyDingo

A game show of the likes
We've never seen before
Where the contestants
Can win or lose it all
Success is measured in gold
Failure is soaked in blood.

Strapped into a chair
Bound in straps and chains
The participants selected by
Powerful global elites
To play a game based on chance.

Life and death
Fate decided by
The flip of a coin
Into the greasy palm
Of the orange tanned host
Who lets you decide if
You live or die.

Heads or tails
Fifty percent chance
Your right
Fifty percent chance
Your wrong!.

Predictably the people
Ate it up!
Hundreds of million viewers
And packed out audience members
Every single week.

Rags to riches story
And plenty of blood and guts
And witty one liners to keep us amused
Electric chair and firing squads
For tonight's episode
Your invited to sit back and watch
The world's greatest ever show.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Set in a dystopic future this was originally a short novel of the same name but trimmed down for a sci fi comic book I did the poem as a quick way of cutting through 150 plus pages.
