Between Silence and Stars

Ciara Stanbury

I met you in a season of fleeting light,

a name, a voice, a presence so slight.

Yet somehow you managed to settle deep in my chest,

a quiet storm, a restless quest.

You love the numbers, the logic, the sky,

I traced my thoughts in verses, asking why.

Opposites bound in an unseen thread,

a tether of words we never said.

Twice I left, afraid to stay,

twice you found your way, my way.

Not chasing, not pleading, just standing near,

like a whisper caught between want and fear.

And now the silence stretches wide,

oceans apart, yet side by side.

Your name still lingers, a ghost in the air,

a love unspoken, yet always there.

And though I wait with quiet ache,

I know the path I cannot take.

Yet if the universe speaks in signs,

then let me live between the lines.

For in the space where longing grows,

possibly, in time, the answer shows.
