As Dolly says in her song "you are only poor if you choose to be" It is a state of mind in comparison to others. A most poignant write in these days of keeping up with the Jones.
Unfortunately when it’s feels like everyday is raining it’s hard to save for a rainy day
Truth! The American Dream should really be called American Proapaganda! It’s held up by the 1% in power, with some scraps of opportunity thrown to the dogs. When one of the dogs catches the scraps. They say, “Good boy/girl”, look how great America is! Feel lucky!” Then they make posters, put that one lucky dog on a billboard, while the rest of us dogs drool and fight over the thought of the scraps. And all of this is guarded by an ignorant pack of dogs, who still believe they’re gonna have some scraps trickled down. Poverty isn’t just a mindset.. It’s how the rich keep their control and stay masters of the pack. Well done, friend, this is truth! 🌹🙏
Ah I understand what you’re saying brother… I can definitely understand… even within this circumstances I still feel like America is great… I don’t know what it is but this feeling of freedom is truly one of a kind
I hear you. It depends, I suppose, on one's definition of freedom. No doubt, Americans have more freedoms than some others, but I also think that gets hyperbolized by, well, us Americans when it comes to comparing us to other Westernized countries. But then again, I have only ever lived here in the states so what do I really know? LOL! I do love my country overall, no doubt there; however, it also disgusts me, especially its resistance to being humane to those "we" perceive as different. Not exclusive to America, but America cannot act like it doesn't have that issue. I have traveled well, not just for touring but for studying other cultures, and I am aware of the "propaganda" we put out into the world that does not quite live up to reality. Regardless, at least I am not being arrested for typing this...for now. 🤣 I am glad for the discussion all the same. Thank you for understanding, brother.
