The birth of hope.

Debbie

There was a beginning and it was alluring and the want for more was enticing and promising.
I finally caved in and let it infuse me, then I birthed.
The thoughts of the extraordinary and magnificent time ahead clouded my being so I nurtured it till it fully became my own.
I was mocked, scorned, and even called a fanatic but I wasn't discouraged.
They couldn't see what I saw, no!, delusion could never compare to it for it carried a depth of certainty
It was beyond a dream, it was real, it was a part of me.
Like a branch relies on its stem and root for survival and a drug addict held on to his drug, I held on to it.
I lived yesterday and awaited tomorrow as a bride waiting for her groom.
The sufferings of the present made me question it on countless occasions but it whispered to my ears every night and soothed my anguish.
I strived in darkness praying and searching before it shone its light, so intense, so bright upon me and I became a child of light.
Bearing the fruits of its works, I walked with purpose, drawing back the hearts of the lost and defeated, and rekindling their faith.
O! Doubt, O! Despair, I free myself from thee.
Thy shackles and chains which kept me captive and enslaved, I brake, and take that which thou have stolen from me.
I am overjoyed for that which I nurtured grows.
I don't see it, I can't touch it but I feel it deep within me.
I feel it so I spread it like a virus within its host, not to kill but to heal.
My words carry the voice of the people,
We are many, but different, we are many but similar
Somewhere in the mixture of our feelings lies belief,
Stirred up by our expectations, we put  more into our contributions,
We know who we are, we carry the crown of grace,
Give us this day and everyday our daily bread.

This is beautiful, hope isn't something we can cling onto, it's something we find within ourselves, it's a belief, a belief in a better future. Hope is being human.
