This Is the Start

Paul Gerard Reed

Everything starts somewhere
In the smallest glimpse of hope
The lilac buds appearing

The freshened edge of the air
Grass growing on the slope
The stormy skies are clearing

It's what we are waiting for
The earlier sunrise
Through the curtain crack

That opening door
The time that is the prize
The moment the spring comes back
