Lament of the Last Leaf

Nature's oldest last leaf,

On a tree branch, clinging for life

Autumn winds howling nearby ,

For this fading little life

Memories of the green past,

Echoed by the hues fast

Fleeting time lost in eternity

Beauty's an ephemeral serenity

Wow! Powerful use of the leaf and nature as a metaphor. Well done. Loved this. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‘

An enjoyable poem to read! The mental image of the last leaf clinging to the bough, despite high winds, is an inspirational one, in a way. We know deep down the leaf must perish in the end, but life is precious and every new day is a gift!

This poem is tightly woven. Memories, echoes, time, beauty are all ephemeral and measured in the eye of the of the beholder. Very nicely done a fave

"Fleeting time lost in eternity" : thus, time is fleeting and disappears from sight, but goes into eternity.
"Beauty's an ephemeral serenity" : the nature of beauty is ephemeral, but there is serenity about it.
The poem does not say if the last leaf is blown away. If it does get blown away, there will be a picture of emptiness.
            Soman Ragavan. 28 February 2025.

Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful analysis of my poem. Your observation of the last leaf's fate is spot on. I intentionally left it open to interpretation.
