Sometimes
I remember more than the fight
Before your last good night,
How you held on to the bit of air
Just for one last word
before your lungs swam an ocean
i remember the moments
filled with empty words,
The long stares at the ground
and boredom that sang out loud
but still there’s nowhere
we would have rather been.
Sometimes
I remember more than the hospital visits,
the pile of referal letters,
Long ques of doctor appointments,
and bags filled with pills.
I remeber the late friday nights,
Pots filled with warmth,
The countless giggles,
Ears helping themselves to anciet stories.
I remember the sunsets
that reminded me that
it was time to go home.
Sometimes
I remember more than your farewell,
Your pale white skin,
the hyms that led you home,
and soil that covered you in your sleep.
I remember the church
You homebrew in my head,
The summer bright colours,
painted beneath my left chest.
I remember the love
That filled your garden
and flowers life owe you.
Sometimes
I remember more than your pictures,
The freindly curve in your face,
and a story in a summoned orbituary.
Sometimes i remember
the pats in the back
and claps from the front row
Sometimes i remember
The sunrises that lifted the curtain
to the best days of my life
Sometimes
I remember you.

I feel fond memories in this poem as if remembering a grandparent or maybe a parent. A nostalgic poem that should be sad but is not. Lovely
Thank you.💐❤️
