Well, I must have been wearing the wrong shoes.
They took me where I didn't want to go.
A poor excuse, you tell me - yes, I know.
Most humans have the wherewithal to choose
A general direction in which to head,
But those shoes took me somewhere else instead.
They sent me round in circles, most of which
Led to nowhere, and left me with the blues.
I wound up poor when I could have been rich.
My own fault, you say? No! It was those shoes!

I loved this, how we too easily look for an excuse why something went wrong, rather than be honest and say we made a mistake, enjoyed the read
So true! It is often easier to find some excuse for our own folly! Thank you for the comment!
You are very welcome
One can feel that- just like a tie π or a costume, the dress making the man, why not the π shoes : destiny? π

Thank you, my friend! Glad you like this!
I love this poem and its meaning. It speaks to human nature and where we go to place blame for our actions. Lovely
Thank you, Soren! I appreciate your comment!
So much fun in your poem DV. We have to have someone or something to blame. I loved the imagery this poem gave me. I saw you in extra large and very bossy boots. Have a beautiful Sunday.
Well, I think my wife wears the big bossy boots in our house, but don't tell her that lol! Thank you for your comment! Wishing you a beautiful day too!
I can't imagine a more downtrodden existence than that of being a shoe .. and they get blamed for absolutely everything to boot ..
Yes, there always seems to be trouble afoot in the life of a shoe! Bearing the weight of humanity on their poor soles, life must be a trudge -- sorry, I mean drudge! Thank you for the comment, Neville!
Tremendous work.
