A Shred of Evidence

Stansfield town,
Once renowned,
One - Nine - Ninety-five
A celebrity,
Of athleticism,
Accused of killing a teenage girl
Was this true,
Did he do,
What he was being accused?
To understand,
First we must rewind
Turn back time to when the girl was alive

Nat, she was a young girl,
Went to school,
She was fifteen
Went to Stansfield comp,
What she came out with was obscene
Partaking in a sex affair,
Though at this stage we don’t know his name,
All we know is he’s an older man,
Married, and plays away

Introduced to the comprehensive school,
Patrick Murray was his name
Teaching English to the older kids,
Had a love for our man Shakespeare
Tried to pronounce “Ouspensky,”
He could not get it right,
That is Nat’s last name,
And he’s the man with whom she sleeps with at night
And his wife, she never stood a chance,
His lies rose up to dance

This man was all she thought about,
Tied the knot of teenage angst
If to him she got closer,
She’d be taught on him how to lap dance
She fancied him,
He fancied her,
But his protection obligation still stands,
He really should know better,
But she sure knows how to charm him, and
He couldn’t stand a chance,
For the good just couldn’t last

Patrick wormed his way through,
Every woman in Stansfield town
Flirted with Erica Cochrane,
‘Cause he sure thought he was charming
Tried to sleep with her,
Twice he was denied,
She was married to his best friend,
Why?
He asked himself, as he was denied,
So he turned himself to the girl who died

Colin, a young man,
Who taught PE, famous for his running,
He,
Was inculpated, implicated
In a crime in which he did not commit
The murder of a teenage girl,
With whom he had no connection with
Colin was arrested,
And was held in a cell for days
Questioned regarding where he was
When the body of the girl was found,
He stayed silent,
Words would not come out

Meanwhile, DI Judy, started investigating this alone,
In charge against her “hecklers,”
But she sure knew how to calm them
Remains collected internally,
Because just the night before
Felt an interpersonal connection
With the killed girl on the bus ride home
Imagine her as a mum,
A love for love that’s late to come

Stansfield town,
Once renowned,
One - Nine - Ninety-five
A celebrity,
Of athleticism,
Accused of the crime against a teenage girl
Found dead in a park,
Late at night,
But who was to blame?
Will we know?
Dreams built black and blue,
See her smile, as you grieve,
Madness underlies what’s perceived as belief

Colin? Did you do this, Colin?
Quit unmasking questioning, Colin
Do you understand me, Colin?
Without answering he stays silent
Colin…?
Colin…?
Without answers he stays silent

Hear that?

That’s the sound you hear,
When apart you’re torn,
And there’s nothing you can do about it

To him,
They pounced like lions,
Calling him a liar,
And there’s nothing he could do about it
They pounced like lions,
Calling him a liar,
And there’s nothing he could do about it

Hear that?

That’s the sound you hear,
When apart you’re torn,
And there’s nothing you can do about it

In Stansfield Town,
He was once renowned,
One - Nine - Ninety-five
He was a celebrity,
Of athleticism,
Accused of the crime against a teenage girl,
He’s innocent,
So Judy says, but Tom persists,
He’s done something wrong
To unravel this case,
First we must look into Judy’s book,
And speak through our tongue
