Astrophel's call to the stars

Kaelyn Jade

The stars call me,

They always have,

Ever since I was young,

They captured me.

I went to the sky,

I swam among them,

Confined to the contents of my ship,

I lived with them.

But the ship failed me,

I was lost in the galaxy,

Stolen by the stars,

I was one of them.

I learn who I was,

I cherished my time in this world,

As long as I yearn to go back,

Earth was no longer an option.

So I flew,

I soared,

I was the most powerful in the whole world,

I had the time of my life,

And I saved the world.

I had visited a star,

I lived there for  while,

But I no longer want to go back,

For I found myself,

And I fell in love.

The stars call me,

But I’m one of them now.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is a poem in the POV of the main character of the book I'm writing. His name is Astrophel. The book is about worlds beyond ours. Worlds and life in the stars, asteroids and the moons. Every thing in or galaxy has life and he is one of them. He was lost and fell. He was left on earth far away from where he belongs. The book series is going to be called the lost constellations. I will share it when I finish it.

A great poem of an existential journey that ended in finding oneself and accepting the brilliance with which one shines. A lovely write.
