I Thought I saw You Standing There.

Poetic Licence

I Thought I Saw You Standing There.

Out of my window, where I just sit and stare.

In the reflection I’m sure you’re standing there.

Looking with those bright beautiful wide eyes.

With that all-consuming huge beaming smile.

I reached out to touch your long blonde hair.

Then realised foolishly you were never there.

I am at the mirror to rearrange my balding hair.

By my side I am sure I saw you standing there.

Your sweet perfume scent just hangs in the air.

You had that look that just laid my soul to bare.

I reached out to tenderly touch your skin so fair.

Then realised foolishly you were never there.

I lay on the bed preparing for the winter's night.

I am certain I could feel you laying by my side.

I could feel your soft touch on my fading skin.

I feel the light air of your warm gentle breathing.

I turned over to gently kiss you with loving care.

Then realised foolishly you were never there.

It is time to pack up my old and few belongings.

Soon all my heart & soul will set sail a travelling.

Times is running out, the clocks quickly ticking.

Soon I will see all the things I am really missing.

And standing by your side I will slowly reappear.

Then finally, I know I will see you standing there.
