Tragedy

Tragedy

Sitting by the body, crying by the tree,
through the tears the eyes of her he sees.
Reaching and slowly moving the lids down,
pulled her from the lake after her drown.
Sirens in the distance break the air,
sitting, crying, into the moment his stare.
The crowd keeps silent a few paces away,
the rest of his life begins on this day.

An open ended poem as to who the victim is stranger, daughter, girlfriend, wife, mother, grandmother each would carry a different feeling and meaning. Also the reason for the drowning not mentioned and again with varied feelings depending on what. A tragedy it is indeed and the last line tells that it was very important to him. Well written I love the open ending to all the facts
