The words said I will call them moonlight.
As the clouds move gathering the dark,
They shine bright when the sun departs.
allowing me not to see darkness for what it is.
when the mind is frail,
She casts the fuller moon, a light more fierce .
Its offer of solace when non is there, never fails.
Her words were as soft as rain,
The raindrop in the drought.
repeatedly said , they over flow in my brain,
Like moonlight that transforms the night,
Her words, my only anchor that transforms my life.
Her counsel wise as ancient sages.
Amaharo which means peace,
Is a word that echoes still in my thoughts
She would say,
Peace is given to those who have given it.
Itonde which means to be careful,
An action I put in every thought.
Every decision, weighed and measured,
The only mantra that keeps my feet grounded.
Can I visit the past where memories of her are stronger?
Where her words were deeper,
Not now when they just echo, like a silent whisper .
If what I’ve lost can no longer be in my present ,
Can I hold on to the past?
a place where forever can last.
I can rely on dreams no longer,
Once dawn awakens ,
it reveals a reality rather harsh ,
That she’s gone, that she’s no more.

Beautifully written this poem seems hauntingly mournful and yet familiar. It speaks with a sense of loss. A calling voice.
I owed her that piece . It’s been a month now since she left us. I was in a darker place dealing with my own issues . It’s only now that I am able to write something nice for her
