The ghost of friendship, a phantom embrace,
I walked with you, saw kindness on your face.
A bond I treasured, since life's early dawn,
A precious gift, carefully nurtured, born
Within my very soul, a sacred flame.
But traveling to you, brought a different game.
Before my eyes, a slow and brutal tear,
My gift, my essence, consumed by sudden fear.
You ripped and shredded what I held so dear,
Left shattered fragments, whispering despair.
Then years went by, the wound began to mend,
And you, with careless voice, on me depend
For explanation, "What became of it, ?
The talent you possessed, right from the start?"
A surge of anger, memories ignite,
To scream the truth, and bathe you in the light
Of your betrayal, the wreckage you had wrought...
But pride restrained, a different battle fought.
I swallowed the truth, and wove a gentle lie,
"Perhaps it vanished, 'neath a foreign sky,
Lost in the bustle, of our carefree days,"
A flimsy shield against your judging gaze.
You know the truth, the evidence remains,
The tattered pieces, whispering through your veins.
But I refuse to grant you power still,
To feed on bitterness, and break my will.
So let forgiveness bloom, a fragile flower,
Watered by strength, in this solitary hour.
Though trust is broken, and the past remains,
I rise above the hurt and break the chains.
My dignity was preserved a quiet grace,
I choose to move with love, in time and space.
The gift, though scarred, still flickers deep inside,
A testament to strength, where darkness tried.
I lied to you, perhaps, but spoke the truth to me,
My spirit is unbroken, forever wild and free.

Such a complicated dynamic forgiveness is like the benefit of medicine thatβs horrible to the tongue, until itβs swallowed and gone. ππ»π
I appreciate your feedback and most of all thank you
You are most welcome ππ»π
Forgiveness is difficult to do, you are gifting someone who has hurt you a free pass, but it can be done at personal sacrifice, however forgetting is a completely different Ball game, a really well written and expressed write
Yes so true, I appreciate your feedback and most of all thank you for understanding.,
You are very welcome
A remembrance of past pain that although past still remains. A wound reopened now needs to heal again. Lies made to ease trouble continue to impede the healing and although unable to forget the past pain and scars that are left you feel that forgiveness will aid in the healing. In order to heal the pain and reestablish trust the antibiotic of forgiveness will indeed work if taken regularly and consistently. A poem where I could sense and feel the anguish and desperation.
I appreciate your understanding and concur that forgiveness is the first step in the healing process. Thank you for your supportive words and encouragement.
