I Would Have Lost Hope Series Pt. 3

Pita

Some say we're living in a crazy time

But time is consistent, people are not

Disagreement is treated like a crime

Why has mercy been set aside to rot?

No one is perfect, just look at myself

Ready to throw stones two sonnets ago

The last, a plea for help, sad in itself

God gives mercy then mercy I should show

Can't we try to have a mind like David

And accept correction when we've done wrong

Or must we live wounded and comorbid?

Let's move forward and not sing the same song

I would have lost heart unless I believed

That I would see the goodness of the Lord

In the land of the living

  • Comment from author about the poem: The final part in this series. The last two stanza don't rhyme because it's from scripture based on what I named the series after.
