The Mischief of the Leprechaun

Matthew R. Callies

In fields where the four-leaf clovers grow,
A leprechaun dances to and fro.
With a wink and a grin,
He pulls mischief within,
Leaving trails of gold dust in tow.

With a pot at the end of the rainbow,
He guards treasures few ever know.
But beware of his tricks,
For his clever antics
Can turn your good fortune to woe.

His shoes are as shiny as the sun,
With buckles that gleam when he runs.
He hops with delight,
In the soft moonlight,
Spreading laughter and joy just for fun.

When caught, he’ll promise a wish,
With tales of gold and a fish.
But don’t trust his charm,
For he’ll raise alarm,
And vanish without a trace, oh so swish!

In meadows where fairies do play,
The leprechaun frolics all day.
He sips on his brew,
With a magical view,
Making wishes just fade away.

He'll dance with the winds in the trees,
And chat with the buzzing bees.
With a jig and a reel,
He'll make you feel
Like you’re caught in a whimsical breeze.

So, if you should spot him one night,
With his laughter and mischief in sight,
Just remember his ways,
In the green fields and bays,
For a leprechaun’s charm is pure light!
