New Moon Laughing

Kurt Philip Behm

The moon unquestioned

has no answers

Between light’s reflection

the coming dawn

One promise chosen

to fill the darkness

One promise chosen

to calm the storm

As planets rally

the moon abandoned

The time for reason

has come and gone

They spin their orbits

and claim reentry

New eyes upon them

new axis spawned

Rotating freely

in pinball madness

Colliding passions

of night’s retreat

A new moon laughing

the death of order

A new moon waiting

— as shadows sleep

A metaphor I assume. People are like this and from there it goes many directions. Nicely written Kurt

Wonderful poem. It actually brought me back to thoughts I recently had. I am very much drawn the the moon...all phases of it. The other night, I was outside observing the moon and pondering it's phases. Really the phases are the earth's shadows marking how close to blocking the moon's view of the sun it is. Just as the moon’s appearance changes due to Earth’s position, our understanding of events and circumstances can shift based on our perspective Anywho, a very thought-provoking poem. Great job, Kurt!
