If Only It Were Real

Kaelyn Jade

What happens in the end?

When all is said and done,

When the wars of your story,

Is finished and done.

When your characters begin to heal,

Find new lives for themselves,

When the plot of the story is done and all is well.

A place in your heart starts to break,

When the picture running through your head begin to fade,

You lose that sense of being within the story,

You get brought back to your world,

The one where your wish was to be able to end like your story.

Sure the battle in your tale was hard,

But in the end it was worth the pain, the loss.

When you can heal and be free,

No longer captive to the darkness this world seems to see.

So what happens in the end?

Will our story end the same way?

Will we find peace and love, come together as one?

WIll we be free to live,

Without feeling the pain and weight of the world around you?

What will happen to our leaders,

Will they start as pure?

Then lose themselves in the corruption of power?

Will it truly end as it does in movies and books?

Or do they just cut off at the part where we are all happy and looking good?

Does the story truly end where we see it stop?

Or do they really go in a cycle like us?

Is it one happy moment where they stop,

Then just leave us blind to the rest?

I wanna know,

How do I get a happy ending?

It doesn’t have to end with a prince by my side?

Or a pretty vast land of flowers where I reside.

I just wanna feel free,

Unchallenged,

Not stuck to the weight of others around me,

I want to grow up,

Find a family and Not worry about money or wars.

I want to feel the peace of the world,

‘Cause that's what it would be like,

No wars,

No Corrupt politicians,

Just living life the way it was given.

I want to see my friends,

Also happy and well,

I want there to be no evil spreading throughout the world,

I want people to realize the world we invision,

Can only happen if we all just listen.

Stop fighting over land,

Forget about bombs and explosives,

Remember when we traded for blankets and food?

When we only asked for a helping hand,

Then we would give our own hand to another?

When we survived off of growing food all together,

When we made sure everyone had what they needed,

Everything they needed to survive cold weather.

We should go back to then,

When we didn’t ask people for money,

We would value everyone,

No matter their religion,

Or body,

We would change the rights,

See everyone as equal.

This is your vision people.

I just told you,

This is why it can’t happen,

Why the end from a book can’t be reimagined,

Because we are to greedy,

To selfish,

To Corrupt,

To really give yourself the world you have dreamed of.

Come together,

Because it's not just your dream,

Its mine, it's yours,

Its true to more than it seems,

I long for this world,

So make it come true,

Let this poem be the start for you,

Then not only I,

But you,

Can be at peace,

Together and free,

Like we were meant to be.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I got the inspo for this poem by finishing a movie. The hunger games (The last movie) to be exact. I was thinking how come every movie ends like that. No its not always perfect. Katniss was still slightly torn by her past, Tris died in the end of Divergent, and Thomas lost his friends and Theresa in The Maze Runner. But the thing is those people found peace in the end. They were happier because of what the fight to be free cost. What if we took that step? What if we weren't afraid of losing ourselves or other along the way? What of we stopped looking at what's best for ourselves and what's best for the world, for others? That's how we will get to live freely, without and judgement, or weight from the current world on our shoulders. We can be free to live our lives with those who love us. Also I'm not saying you have to like everyone in the world. I would be inpossible to like every single 8.2 billion people (Around). But you just need to respect and be kind to those who you don't like. Thanks for reading my poem and I hope you took something useful out of it. Yes, I know not everything ends happy, but if we try we can still inprove ourselves to be better people and make the world more like the sorties we write and invision.

Not every movie, book or poem can end happy. This is a poem of a wish and that wish is seen to not be possible. To settle for less may be enough. Lovely

A very relatable write to many and it would be wonderful to have a happy ending, but I think in this day and age it is near impossible, well written and expressed write
