Catalyst

Tristan Robert Lange

There is

Darkness

Within me,
It is true.
I cannot, at all,
Deny that

Anymore
Than I can
Deny

The pull of
The moon
On my somber,
Sullen

Self.

But that,
my friend,
Is who I appear
To be
To those who
Know me not,

To those who
Haven’t taken
The time to
Open the door
To my hurting,
Yet hopeful
Heart,

Their own part
In a game of

Take,
But never give.

Yet, what is most
Concerning
Is the fact that,

As dark as you
Notice
I am,
Your darkness runs
Far
D
e
e
per than mine,
As if your own pain
Was too great
To physically bear,
So your soul
Picked up the slack,

Eventually crushed

By the weight of
Love’s negelct.

I do not judge you
The way you judge me.
I do not judge you at all.
Rather, I witness
How weathered,
How wearied,
You’ve become,
Whether you know it

Or not.

It saddens me—
Scares me even—
To think
Of where this
Darkness
Might eventually lead,
Reminding me
How easy it is
To be consumed—
Owned—
By what possesses us.

The darkness is in me—
That I cannot deny—
It, to some extent
Or another,
Is within us all.

But friend,
I need you to know
That the darkness
Is but an expanse—
Undefined—
In which light
Can travel

Through.

If you just look,
Just seek the light,
It will find you,
And fill the expanse
Found in the
Silent spaces
Within the
Cracks
Of your heart.

It is there where
The damned darkness
Becomes darling,
Where the holes
Become hope,
And where
The cracks produce

Creativity.

Friend,
This darkness—
Its expansive reach—
It is not a curse.

No, it is not a curse;
It is a fucking

Catalyst.

That was like looking deep into my soul, so intricately worded. Had to remind myself to breathe πŸ™πŸ»πŸ•Š

    • Tristan Robert Lange

I am humbled, my friend. Yes, breathing is good! It keeps the reading...and LIVING...going! πŸ˜‚ Seriously, though, I am humbled and thankful for your time and your sincere feedback, always. You are much appreciated my friend! πŸ™πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ–€

And since I added this to my comments below, I would be remiss to not convey it exactly as I did below to you: your ongoing support and feedback have been a catalyst for me, to pun on my own poem 🀣 So, thank you, my friend!

        • arqios

Thank you and you are most welcome πŸ™πŸ» There are many things I have yet to put to words and haven’t been able to, so you are blazing the trail there, in that regard. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ•Š

It is in all of us, some don't know until provoke, some are scared of it and some enjoy it, have enjoyed another trip to the dark side.

          • Tristan Robert Lange

Indeed! I am it delivered and that you enjoyed. I am always thankful for your willingness to come on the journey with me. Much appreciated, my friend! Your ongoing support and feedback have been a catalyst for me, to pun on my own poem 🀣

              You are very welcome

I find it most intriguing your painting with letters meaning (the use of dropping letters in deeper conveyed the depth) and I loved the use of dark as a catalyst a most wonderful image and concept. Lovely

              • Tristan Robert Lange

Thank you so much, my dear friend. I am glad the poem delivered in form and content and, as I shared with Tobani above, your ongoing support and feedback have been a catalyst for me, to pun on my own poem 🀣 Much appreciated, Soren! πŸ™πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ–€

Oohh, put a light on or candle or summat, then you'll be able to see! lol.

                    • Tristan Robert Lange

Hmmm. I feel like I may have heard this from somewhere before. Maybe I should start heeding? πŸ€”πŸ˜‚ Thanks for your humor, your time, thoughts, and ongoing support my friend. I am going to be repetitive with what've said above, but your ongoing support and feedback have been a catalyst for me, to pun on my own poem πŸ€£πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ–€πŸ™

Dang it! How can we continue on here? We're not human (some of us) but the verify check lets us in! heehee.
I'm not too familiar with 'catalyst'. I thought it was relating to cats, so spent a whole day in an encyclopedia of cats, trying to find the breed! heehee.
But - if I write any darker poems, it seems to make me more depressed than i might be already. Doh!

                        • Tristan Robert Lange

Interesting. I can see how that might be. For me, it has been the opposite. The more I write it, the more I get it out of me. I can, and SOMETIMES do, write happy ones. But the muse has to really be there for that to happen. Sadly, she comes around much more like a macabre messenger. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ But yeah, for me the expression is both cathartic and liberating as well as it is healing to know others find relation in it and, therefore, feel less alone. That said, if there weren\'t people whose muse led them to lighter topics, we\'d all be in BIG trouble. So, balance is definitely good, and diversity makes for that. Yikes, I\'ve hijacked my own comment and have written a book. All of that to say, I can definitely see how what is healing for me might have the reverse effect on someone else. So, thank you for that perspective, Orchi! Has anyone told you that you rock? No, not that you ARE A rock...but that you rock. 🀣 Because you do! You can tell both Fido and KP I say so! Thank you so much, my friend. πŸ™πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ–€

                          • orchidee

Thanks T. If I was a rock, I could not get online now, as I would not be human. lol.

                            • Tristan Robert Lange

LOL! Unless this is in an alternate universe, say #45,404,202, where rocks are sentient. Then this could be still you! πŸ˜œπŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
