I look in the mirror

Li Yanmey

I look in the mirror.

Its surface is trembling.

I look in the mirror.

My reflection is fading.

Another game of my mind?

Or am I dreaming again?

What can I find

If I don’t run away?

I look in the mirror.

Black fog covers space.

I look in the mirror.

I can’t see my face.

It’s so real and scary.

I can’t make any moves.

All my nightmares are dreary.

I hear scratching on the roof.

I look in the mirror.

I see all my fears.

I look in the mirror.

I keep silence. I freeze.

I am not sleeping.

It’s all in my head.

My voice is weeping.

My arms are red.

Sounds like a nightmare but then a metaphor as well. We all have times when our mirrors are fogged or blackened and we do not see ourselves properly. Very nicely done
