The sun’s up high, the field’s a mess,
Cleats kick the dirt in their Sunday best,
A batter swings, the ball flies wide,
Outfielders chase with a dreamer’s stride.
Coach yells loud, “Keep your eye on it, son!”
A strike, a miss, but the game’s just begun.
Oh, it’s a Little League day, let’s play ball,
Scraped knees and cheers, we’re givin’ our all,
From the bleachers to the baseline call,
Swing, run, slide—hear the summer sing,
Little League dreams on a diamond wing.
The pitcher’s nine, his cap’s too big,
He winds up fast with a nervous jig,
A grounder rolls, the shortstop dives,
Gloves flop loose, but the spirit thrives.
Mom shouts, “Go!” Dad’s got the score,
A snack bar hums with a popcorn roar.
Oh, it’s a Little League day, let’s play ball,
Scraped knees and cheers, we’re givin’ our all,
From the bleachers to the baseline call,
Swing, run, slide—hear the summer sing,
Little League dreams on a diamond wing.
Bases loaded, two outs to go,
A pop fly soars in the evening glow,
A tiny catcher trips in the dust,
But laughter wins, ‘cause win we must—
Not the score, but the joy we bring,
Every kid’s a champ in this dusty ring.
The game winds down, the sky turns red,
A line drive cracks off a wobbly head,
The parents clap, the whistle blows,
Ice cream waits where the victory grows.
Trophies shine, though the score’s a blur,
Little League’s love is what we prefer.
Oh, it’s a Little League day, let’s play ball,
Scraped knees and cheers, we’re givin’ our all,
From the bleachers to the baseline call,
Swing, run, slide—hear the summer sing,
Little League dreams on a diamond wing.

With the chorus it could be a song. It brings the excitement and comradery of a kids game. Well written and with good meter and rhyme. Nicely done
