Rise For Gaza

Mohammad younus koul

Rise for Gaza, the bleeding land

Will you watch till none remain,
Till Gaza’s streets are stripped of song,
Till olive trees, their roots in pain,
No longer whisper where they belong?

Will you watch as walls encroach,
As laughter fades to ash and flame,
As mothers’ cries, too raw to broach,
Carve scars no time can ever name?

Will you watch as history bleeds,
As Nakba’s shadow stretches wide,
As exiles sow unwelcome seeds,
Their dreams adrift on a burning tide?

O world, if still your heart can beat,
Speak now, before the final breath,
Before the stones beneath our feet
Are all that’s left to mourn the dead.

For silence is no sanctuary—
It is a tomb, cold and deep,
Not for the souls who rest in dust,
But for the living who chose to sleep.
