It's too late

Maplespal

It's too late

It's too late to apologize or make amends,
there's no point of view that I want to defend.
I walked away and never explained my thoughts,
times like this my mind feels distraught.

Moments come where I want to agree,
with the punishing side of me.
The side that yells down the hole,
shackles and beats my soul.
Reminding me of the rights I left behind,
not to look back at the anger I will find.
Beating out the desire to look into your eyes,
a need I have to be beaten by and answer your why's.

It's too late to turn around and walk back,
pick up the markers left on the track,
find the reasons left along the way.
I understand there are no words I can say,
nothing that can change the facts in view,
it's too late to apologize to you.

Some times one has to admit defeat to the clock of time and move on. A great poem of regret.
