I Set the Bar Low
Yeah, I admit it—I set the bar low.
Sometimes, I wonder what was happening in my life
that a simple hi could send me spiraling for you.
I still don’t get it.
Nothing about you screamed my type.
You weren’t an Isak Alexander,
nor an Elon Musk.
You were just one of them—
one of those pretty messed-up guys
with nothing to your name
but a few worn-out shirts,
and honestly, I doubted if they were even yours.
At least tall was my type, yet look at you.
Maybe I could have overlooked that,
but you weren’t just short—
you were ugly too.
And still, somehow,
I gave in and loved you.

You loved them for what they were and not what you wanted them to be, nicely expressed write
A dog, a cat, a man or woman love knows no boundaries of beauty. The heart has no eyes and this poem is cute, tender and at the same time brutal in its honesty just as love is. A most wonderful composition. A fave
