We will never die

Kenny O'Donnell

'We will never die'
your shoulders sag
the weight of imagined pain
from years to come
lifted from them

'We will never die'
the storm in your mind
is broken
impermanence gives way
to falsified immortality

'we will never die'
the lie stings even my own tongue
but its so sweet to your ears
I will bare the toxin
knowing this burden will not last
wondering if I have truly saved you

So metaphoric this poem strikes close to home I love the line (the lie stings even my own tongue ) a fave the message I take to be that one can take another's pain on through a lie and suffer it oneself. A most noble concept that many may debate the ethics of but seems most giving in intent.

Thanks for reading Soren, your take is right but also whether taking on that pain is a good thing long term or whether it simply ignores a bigger problem that will come up down the road.
