The Alchemy of Shadows

TheInnerLens

Pride gleams like a golden crown,
But beneath, it weighs the traveler down.
Resentment flows, a bitter stream,
Drowning the remnants of the dream.

Integrity bends to corruption's will,
Twisting virtue until it stands still.
In Rationalization's mirrored hall,
Reason falters, truth takes it fall.

The Serpent weaves a patient thread,
Virtues twisted, and their lifeblood bled.
Yet the light flickers, its warmth unseen,
Awaiting a soul to intervene.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is from a section of what I am writing about. This is "Stage 6" where virtues are twisted. In this stage, the Serpent targets the traveler’s strengths and positive qualities, corrupting them into entrapment tools. Virtues like pride, integrity, and rational thought are distorted, ensuring that even the traveler’s best traits work against them. Pride blinds them with arrogance, cutting off humility. Resentment turns emotional wounds into bitterness, preventing healing and reconciliation. Hypocrisy fosters harsh judgment of others while hiding personal faults. Corruption poisons values, twisting purity and truth into shadows. Finally, rationalization ensures harmful actions are justified, trapping the traveler in cycles of self-deception.

A Sun Tzu tactic of using an enemies strengths against them. A poem that deserves deeper thought. Nicely written
