The maple trees stand tall
deeply rooted
in the welcoming earth
their fall leaves fluttering
in the swirling wind
like butterflies
taking their first flight
in a celebration
of movement and color
The creek ambles lightly
over rocks
as it glides
through the friendly forest
Bringing life-giving water
from the mountains
to sustain
All beings
Living in the canyon
Happily harmonizing
By just being itself
Above that earth surface splendor
Pearly white puffy clouds waltz
With the sapphire blue sky.
To transform
Nature’s healing visions
Into the way
Of your own being
Take a serene stroll
Down a peaceful nature trail
Focusing softly on nature’s poetic patterns
Over time
Your egoic self
fades away
Replaced by an enlightenment
Dedicated
To enhancing
The wellbeing of others
Through
Selfless service
Joyful giving
Lovingkindness
The way life should be

- Comment from author about the poem: My dad suffered a stroke last year. He began this poem right before and has been creating it in his head since losing the ability to write. He has rewritten this so many times, using it for comfort during the struggles. He wants people to know that healing is always possible if you immerse yourself in nature. We can become the people we should be when we learn from the trees, the cloud, the water.

Moving, this poem speaks to me in beautiful natural images of the harmony of nature and how it fits. What some see as harsh and uncaring in the long run like a parent discipling a child it forms a healthy and strong adult. Love is at the core of nature. A most wonderful piece.
