Blessed are you who belong to the kingdom of Heaven.
We are showered with riches for every seed sown.

Blessed are you who are comfortable.
We are blessed by God, unlike those who mourn.

Blessed are you who have inherited the whole earth.
We were fooled by the flaw of humility.

Blessed are those who are satisfied with having everything.
We are not weak like those who hunger or thirst.

Blessed are you who show no mercy.
We will not fall into the sin of empathy.

Blessed are you who dress pure and clean.
We know how God despises dirty.

Blessed are you who are God’s children.
We shall be known for our works of war.

God blesses you with the kingdom of Heaven.
We will persecute all we deem not right.

Hatred
Is not unholy
Because
God declared
That those who love the Lord
Are to hate evil.

Yes, we are to hate.

Discord
Does the will of the Lord
Because truth divides
Like the sword
The Lord
Said he came to bring.

Yes, we are discord distributors.

Jealousy
is just and
Envy
is a must—
We resent that which
Shows God is bust
Because
God, who is
Just,
Is also
Jealous and resents
Other gods.

Yes, we fight to make God great again.

Selfish Ambition
Is not truly
Selfish,
You need it
To experience
How God plans
To prosper you.

Yes, we will be made rich by God for our ambition.

Impurity
Isn’t improper.
After all,
God wants you to
Experience
Some happiness
Along with one’s daily hard work.

Yes, we will follow our wise teacher.

Sorcery—
To charm, deceive, or poison—
Is God’s holy work
For even Jesus said
That his
Followers
Were to be shrewd.

Yes, all means of manipulation are magnificent when serving God.

Who will go into the world with hate?
Here I am, Lord, send me.

Who will be jealous for me, filled with electric envy?
I will Lord, send me.

Who wants to be rewarded for their fealty?
Here I am, Lord, reward me.

Who will follow their wise teacher?
I, Lord, will follow our wise teacher.

Who will be as shrewd as serpents?
Lord, I will slither for you.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is a liturgical inversion—a confrontation with the seductive language of spiritual corruption, something I have observed in certain pockets of “religious” society and am deeply concerned by. Each line reflects how easily teachings can become distortions of Scripture, ideology, and allegiance. For those interested in further study, scriptures referenced and intentionally inverted here include Matthew 5:3-10 (Beatitudes), Psalm 97:10 (hatred of evil), Matthew 10:34-36 (sword of division), Exodus 20:5 (jealousy), Jeremiah 29:11 (prosperity), Ecclesiastes 8:15 (enjoyment), and Matthew 10:16 (shrewdness). This is not a poem to be read passively, but to be wrestled with, questioned, and survived. As it has been said, the devil is in the details—and as another wise man once said, “You will know a tree by its fruit.”

This write is justified, religion is more guilty than the layman of misinterpretation of the holy books , as it is these houses of faith that the layman is told what to think, do and believe, and each and everyone is there serve there own purpose and individual agenda. Enjoyed the read

I have to say this poem is well said and points to many inconsistencies in belief. I love how it is formed in a similarity of religious chants. A sarcastic presentation of what many believe but as a call to carefully think about what one says they believe. A fave

          • Tristan Robert Lange

Exactly. Do you actually believe what you say you believe. And, a needed life-hack for some evidently: one's actions show what one really believes. Thank you for your time and and thoughts, Soren. And for the fave, let me not for get the fave! Much, much appreciated! 🖤🙏🕯️🦇🐦‍⬛🦇

I went to a thorn bush expecting to find apples on it - doh! 'Tree know by its fruit'. Too much here for me to comment on in detail. All I know is I can't have figs cos they..... Too Much Info to say why!
