She Said, She Can

Alex PB

Notice of absence from Alex PB
Writin' more and more poems is my job,
I shall write when Shakespeare is back.

She said she can smell the alcohol on my breath,

She can smell my anxiety topping,

She can tell when my breath is stopping,

She can tell when I'm not me,

She said do not be obsessed with me,

She said she likes her freedom,

She can be whatever she wants, I respect it,

She can be mine if I wait for it,

She said she has soft hands with intricate patterns,

She said I can hold them,

She said she didn't think she'd fall in love with me,

She said she's worth it,

She said she's unique, one in a million,

She said more but I wasn't listening,

She said if I mess up she'll leave,

I'm obsessed with her, she doesn't believe me,

I'm in love with her, will she love me?

A poem of being struck and smitten. Whether this is enough to land the lady is at question. What is the line between obsession and perseverance? A poem that provokes thought.
