Impermanence

rebellion_in_sanity

Staring at you,
They look but don't see.
A warm feeling envelops you,
In the lap of anonymity.

A bubble of silence and serenity—
A safe place,

Been the faithful dog to time,
In the throes of infinity.

Lapping waves—sounds hesitant,
Seeming like offerings of apologies,
Ripples in the pool of silence,
In the midst of an ocean of eternity.

Gentle strides
On the shore of consciousness.
Questions fleet through
Like meteors streaking across the sky,
A dead leaf sailing in the breeze—
Before the final goodbye.

The sky lights up,
But only momentarily.
The transient spark of life
Answers the question unasked—
Life is glorious
For being momentary.
