Personal Hell

Shaunmatthewcpoetry

They call them gateway drugs,
The demonic try to act like thugs.
Opening up to the unseen realm?
Or is it just your own personal Hell?
Having illusions of multiple contusions?
Blood, dismemberment and a few bruises.
I don't cheat with my writing by dark conjuring,
Pentagrams and devil horns they find comforting.
Overheard a conversation about a bunch of nothing,
Stood and cleared my throat with a little coughing.

Wow! This is a most interesting poem that speaks to a taboo subject. After all when I was your they talked of marijuana as a gateway drug and that became a myth. Before me it was tobacco and alcohol, those do enough damage on their own and don't need to take anyone further. Cocaine they used to put it in your soft drink and that's how coke got its name, morphine the best cough suppressant. Today prescription medications make up the greatest gateway drugs. A poem that opens the door and is most poignant needing to be addressed. Well done

Thank you, I am glad you took away all those things you mentioned as that was more or less what I was trying to get across with this one, appreciate it!

I was taught never to mess with the occult.

Wow, friend, this is powerful and I love the image that accompanies it. Anything can be seen as a gateway to something else, but ultimately it is human curiosity and desire that lead the way. Quite wise and plenty more more going on in this one as well. Well done! 🌹👏
