Normalcy
I set my sights on a destination
Charted my course from imagination
Longing to dig my toes in the sand
On some beach like in Pan’s, Never Land
Looking for that Rabbit Hole, you know
Some place the Map will never show
Untiring in the quest to find “ever after”
And hearts full of ruminating laughter
Scouring every clue our eyes can see
Looking for the place they call Normalcy
But me thinks it only exists in a fairy tale
Somewhere in the depths with Melville’s whale
Swimming by Atlantis’ lost city lights
Or catching a view from Kilimanjaro’s lofty Heights
Spying Mount Fairweather on a cloudless day
Or the whales that play out in Glacier Bay
Unlikely and rare are these sights to see
And so too that we’ll ever find… Normalcy

What a great question What is normalcy. Beautiful images in this poem that represent the ideal of the normal world. Normalcy is so variable and depends on what you measure it against and is always from your point of view. Very nicely stated in this poem.
A lovely write of the perception and hunt for what is classed as normal, each person will have their own version, enjoyed the read
As always,
Thank you Tobani, for your read and comments. Always a joy to see you. Hope your day is spectacular.
You are very welcome and thank you
The norm and what is considered normal rarely find themselves exactly on the same page. Strange even if there is some logic in expecting them to be🙏🏻🕊
Arqios,
So true. But it seems if the norm and normal were all that were… we would miss so much of the color and beauty that the “outliers” bring. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. It is so appreciated.
Indeed, outliers, like the great heretics bring us to the next page. You’re much welcome 🙏🏻🕊
