Liquid Cope

KTay

Waking up

His poisoned mind

Percussion ringing

The throbbing chimes

The darkening glares of fractured sight

Blinding eyes

The burning light

The question asked again

This time

Why

Oh, why

He cannot think

The rancid smell

Of last night's drink

Stomach foul

The plate of wings

A bag of chips

The onion rings

The price to pay

Not of it's worth

Served with a side of aging curse

Cradled head

The pain, Regrets

He swears to never drink again

Open bottle

The empty vow

The broken promise

He's drinking now

Into the river

Flowing free

The cost is great

But the wine is cheap

Irish coffee

Evening out

Into the night

He's drowning out

Make a fool

Mistaking you

Order up

The greasy food

Down he goes

He spins asleep

Just to wake

With you

Awaiting

Standing there

Still unaddressed

The question

Why

To him is pressed

The answer known

Is swept aside

Another drink

To feel

Alright

The never ending battle of the alcoholic, very nicely written of the day in day out process some go through, and most probably could not tell you why, enjoyed the read

      Thank you!

A ritual cycle of the addict whether to alcohol, food, or whatever. So well described here in the broken promises to self and other and the helplessness or at least perceived helplessness of the situation. Well written

          Thank you!

KTay, A well written piece. “Standing there. Still unaddressed. The question WHY to him is pressed.” If we could just find it, address it, maybe it would heal. Thank you for sharing.

            Thank you!

I can relate to this, having had my own battle with demon alcohol and its devastating effects on my mental health, self-esteem, and physical health, as well. This is such an important write and I thank you for expressing it, my friend. 🌹👏
