Where The Willows Grow
Longing for a river bank
Where the French Broad waters flow
Just to the north of Knoxville
Where the Willows grow
Lying in a hammock
Where time is passing slow
Underneath the shade tree
Where the Willows grow
Back to the days of youthful bliss
Where the winds of adventure blow
Across the landscape of lazy days
Where the Willows grow
Sneaking around the bend
Just about a good stones throw
Making love in the green grass
Where the Willows grow
Where did time go,…
Tell me if you know
The playfulness of youth
Where the Willows grow
This is where my mind went
Rummaging through imagination’s stow
Creating sacred memories
Where the Willows grow
Of some fictional time and place
Talking to a friendly crow
A distant longing in my heart
Where the Willows grow

Ah, the atmosphere of poetry! I too sometimes converse with crows; but only when they initiate the dialogue๐๐ป๐๏ธ
P.S. The title reminds me of that long ago story "Where the Redfern Grows."
Arqios,
Thank you for your time and comments. Itโs always helpful to hear the thoughts of others who love the art.
Indeed it is. You very welcome ๐๐ป๐
A wistful longing fills the heart with this poem's reading. Nostalgic with a tender sadness it echoes its message with each verse. Like a stone thrown in a pond it ripples outward. Although I am not much for repetitive rhymes in this case it enhances the message and like those concentric rings grows larger with it progress. It is an echo of the heart. Very nicely done a fave
Thank you Soren,
For some reason unknown to me, the phrase just kept ringing in my thoughts. As always, I appreciate you stopping by and your thoughts and words. Hope your weekend is a good one.
This poem is a journey from and towards growth birthing and rebirthing through life. The willow speaks through this poem, I enjoyed the read!
