the killing of a conifer

Mourgana of the Fey

Listening to my three feathered sisters

magpies muttering as faint flakes

swell

cosmogenic cosmonauts

it is not history that haunts us

when roaring blades

fall into mourning air

it is said trees are our historians

life saviours

we have to accept it

because we lived

each cremation

our beloved has fallen

because we survived

once he was the apple

of mine eyes

I ask you now

return as this page

read into me

A well written piece. I felt at one with nature. I see the circle of life and the connections to it that come back around to us. Thank you for sharing.

The vary wording and metaphors in this write make it most intriguing and as one reads on it has more and more hooks that take one to a faintly remembered place of origin. Lovely

Hello Soren, yes this poem has various angles, I have mixed a few lines. I find if I do this the poem gets a total new perspective. To remember or remember the place where one comes from yes thats surely a theme in my writing! Have a lovely day!

We really do destroy nature, do we not? And, we destroy our own nature and identity in doing so. A most beautiful poem that speaks in equal measure beauty and urgency. Well done! 🌹👏

          Hello Tristan,

Sadly yes, we do this, there is a song by Coil that goes man is the animal, I totally vouch that line! I do like to think that perhaps there is a way that nature can be helped. There is hope. Glad you enjoyed this piece! Enjoy your day!

Indeed. I hope for and believe in that too, Mourgana. I just hope more and more find themselves in agreement and joining the search for the solution(s). Thank you. You too!

            • Mourgana of the Fey

Hello David, yes and yes! I think trees are amazing. I realise that I am a very lucky person because I can see hundreds of trees each day. They still live here and during early walks it smells so fresh. Anyways have a good day!
