I've Lied

Maplespal

I've lied

I said forever to her many times,
looking back those were my crimes.
Those moments we had were ours not mine,
at those moments I put that word in the lines.

I said forever looking in those eyes,
turns out each forever spoken were lies.
Hope and desperation formulating the thought,
knowledge of the future spoke in those spots.

I said that word to her so many times,
like many others committing that crime.
No regrets are felt, the lie was a need,
we were watching our lovers heart bleed.

Like so many others, I've lied.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I don't regret these types of lies. They were truthful when told, only lies now do to no longer being together.

A poem of sadness and regret that lives on in the absence of the other. We lie to ourselves at time about things that we want too much and force ourselves to believe and in believing others believe as well. Nicely written
